Good morning. We begin with a tragic incident on the roads in the North Country that has left a law enforcement officer facing serious criminal charges. Warren County sheriff's deputies have arrested thirty-three-year-old Michael Kilduff, a Westchester County police officer, on charges of driving while intoxicated. Authorities say Kilduff was riding a motorcycle near Route Nine in Lake George on Sunday when he was involved in a major accident. Tragically, his thirty-one-year-old brother, Brian Kilduff, who was riding in the same group, died from injuries sustained in the crash. Investigators say the officer refused to take a breath test at the scene. He was processed and later released ahead of upcoming court proceedings.Meanwhile, a former college student is headed to a Central New York courtroom tomorrow morning following a grand jury indictment. A Madison County grand jury has formally indicted nineteen-year-old Kido Simon, a former S-U-N-Y Morrisville student, for his alleged role in a campus shooting back in November. Prosecutors allege Simon shot a twenty-year-old man in the neck outside a residence hall. The victim survived the attack after being treated at Upstate University Hospital. Simon faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, and is currently being held on one million dollars bail.Down in Syracuse, civic leaders gathered outside City Hall yesterday to officially mark the beginning of Gun Violence Awareness Month. Police Chief Mark Rustin and Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick led a formal flag-raising ceremony. The event came on the heels of several recent shootings across the city, including a Friday night incident where a fifteen-year-old girl was struck by gunfire near Graves Street. No arrests have been made in that case.Turning to commerce, retail giant Amazon hosted a major community meeting in the town of Clay last night to discuss the future of automated logistics. The online retailer outlined plans to amend its local site design to allow its massive distribution center to accommodate a regional drone delivery service.
