Morrisey announced a statewide three-percent pay raise for teachers, state troopers, highway workers and other public employees, saying the increase is aimed at helping recruitment and retention.Meanwhile, voters in the Mid-Ohio Valley are reacting to primary election results. In Washington County, Ohio, former Fort Frye school board member Stephanie Lang defeated incumbent commissioner Eddie Place in the Republican primary race for county commissioner. Several local tax levies were also decided Tuesday, including approval of the Washington County Board of Developmental Disabilities levy, while a public library levy narrowly failed.And in Parkersburg, a crowded race is taking shape for West Virginia’s 14th House District seat. Three Republicans and three Democrats are competing in their respective primaries for the Wood and Wirt County district, with issues like taxes, education, jobs and economic development dominating the campaign conversation.Plus, Parkersburg City Council has approved the first reading of an ordinance that would raise rates at city pools and splash pads for the first time since 2019.
